FACT: The status of the Arts
In case you're still doubting that Australia is an absolute cultural desert, Andrea Hull, Director of the Victorian College of the Arts, had this to say on the radio Wednesday evening:
"Australia lags behind other nations when it comes to its cultural priorities(...)There's a far higher investment from European countries and countries like Ireland in the arts per capita than there is here in Australia, and that is because they recognise the returns are longitudinal returns – there's a whole variety of spin-offs."
